The BEST Brow Pencil

So, I have been in the market for a brow pencil or powder or filler that will help my wimpy eyebrows! Every time I try something new my sister will point out what is wrong with the look! So I take it to heart and try something new...I found the ultimate, the most fantabulous brow pencil around. And it's only $20.00!!!! It's by Benefit and it has the pencil on one side (that has a powder like finish) and a brush to calm your brows after you are done filling it in. And there is a lesson included to help you out if you can't get it! LOVE LOVE LOVE...a must have in your make up!!!

Give a little shout out!

I just have to give a little shout out to JCP...they have been hard at work remodeling their products in both their home and clothes lines. I purchased these little owl lamps from their furniture store in Riverpark the other day and I think they add the perfect touch to my yellow, teal, and grey bedroom! Hoot Hoot for JCP and these most adorable lamps! They are perfect for my bedside night stand!

Bang Bang Bang!

Okay so I had to share my bang experience! They are all the rage this year and I feel like everyone in the celebrity world is rockin' the bangs...my favorite bang look is on Kim on the cover of Cosmo,

So in an effort to keep up with the kardashians (LOL) I wanted to see what I would look like with some bangs...of course I didn't want to cut them in case I hated them, so I went and purchased some clip on bangs from our local wig salon in town! Yes I did! I went to Kim's Wig Salon and not only did they provide an array of options from real hair to synthetic, but they even styled them for me! I went with the synthetic 20.00 clip on and although I did NOT look like a Kardashian, I did have a lot of fun out on the town with my friends! A must try! Have fun!!!
Photo: Love me some blondies
Thanks Annette (on the right) for driving all around town with me to find me some bangs and filling you purse with bobby pins and a comb to make them look authentic! LOL!!! Good times!

It was Good

Ran across an old photo as I was cleaning the house this evening-a rarity I know, but I needed an evening to catch up with life. Picking up things that were out of place I picked up a stack of old photos stuck together with tape. I must of taken apart a collage of memories and stashed the pictures in the yellow cabinet in my room. SOMEONE was snooping around where they shouldn't of been. I digress, there in the midst of pictures from my wedding and other special moments in my life was this picture of my mom and Niko. I think he was 2. This was when my mom would come over every morning at 6:45am to my house to take care of her boy, her first grandson, whom she would move a mountain for if she could. Every morning without complaining she would be at my home with her cappuccino from Savemart and a treat for her boy and a smile for me, followed by hugs and kisses. Sometimes she would be late, sometimes she would be tired and lay on the couch as soon as she walked in, but she was always happy to help her daughter and love on her Niko. It's tradition, expected in Greece that as a grandmother you practically raise your grandkids, so for my mom it was what she was placed on this earth to do, and she took pride it in. I remember this day at Riverpark. It was a Saturday morning in late spring, Niko loved to play in that fountain that used to be in front of the theater. She had grabbed him just before he got his feet wet and she squeezed him tight and laughed. Oh her laugh, her smile. Every Saturday, her day off, she would call in the morning and we would make plans on hanging out. Sissy, me, mom and Niko. It was that way for a long time and it was the best, absolutely the best. And tonight, in the midst of my cleaning I was taken back to that moment, that minute in life when all was good, when my mom was good, when my Saturdays were good, spent with my mom, drinking coffee, walking, talking, and laughing. It was good.

Homemade Dishwasher Soap

Well I finally made this homemade dishwasher soap. I think I pinned it a while ago, but you know how those pins go...pin away and one day you'll get to it! Well, it was one of those days when you as a mother HAVE to stay home because one of your children is too sick to send to school-preschool is the only school you can miss around here...FYI. With all that time on my hands and Zoe fast asleep, I took my ingredients and made myself create! And I have to tell you, SUPER easy, a little time consuming, but oh so worth it!My dishes were squeaky clean this morning! Here is what I did. I found a recipe at Lady with a Red Rocker  She is pretty amazing. Here is what the recipe called for:

Homemade Dishwasher Soap
1 cup Borax
1 cup washing soda (ONLY found at Winco)
½ cup *kosher salt (*I used regular table salt, and it worked just fine.)
½ cup *citric acid (double this if you have hard water) (*I used 1 cup Lemishine found next to the rinse aids in the dishwasher-soap isle at Target.)
To Create the pre-measured cubes:
After you mix all the above you have to squirt it with some water, NOT A LOT, or it will fizz up like a volcano and it won't work. Just enough to make your powder mold together.

I used a top of a salt and pepper shaker for mine because it fit into my dispenser. Measure before-I was lucky the top of the salt shaker was a Tablespoon as well, that's how much you'll need for each one. I used the coffee filters (cut into fourths) and molded them into that just to keep separated when storing it, I didn't put the filter in the dishwasher.
I let each capsule dry in a mini cupcake pan for about an hour then stored in my old Cascade container from Costco.
I spent $5.00 on the ingredients, but only used half. I will have to buy more of the citric acid to make 50 more, but other than that it basically cost me $2.50 to make 50 capsules of detergent!!!!
And instead of Jet Dry I use White Vinegar in the Jet Dry dispenser in your dishwasher. It saves you a bundle as well! Love me some White Vinegar! Enjoy!!!
