Death By Chocolate

So my husband texted me today asking if I could make a dessert for his work BBQ tomorrow. I was so excited because my hubby NEVER asks me for a dessert...he is NOT a dessert person unlike myself. I think I spent all week making caramel popcorn, sugar cookies, cake pops, and monkey bread...holidays always get me.  Anyways, eager to hear what he would want me to make for his friends (I was thinking cake pops in his school colors, maybe a batch of my highly requested sugar cookies, or maybe my chocolate covered oreos that everyone has been asking for these days).  And out of his mouth comes "How about Death By Chocolate?" Really? That simple dessert that takes me but 5 mins to assemble? Really?  Really, that is what he asked for. And I made it of course and was reminded that even though this recipe is SO simple, it is an all time favorite. A classic. When I first got this recipe from our school's secretary, I fell in love and made it all the time any time! It was named Death By Chocolate, because you originally had to freeze skore bars and beat them to death and use throughout the dessert. Now I just buy the already crumbled toffee bar.  This dessert always takes me back to Reyburn Intermediate where I used to teach and all the morning breaks spent in the back teacher room with good friends and good food!  So, here are the ingredients, I hope you enjoy...I should of dyed my whip cream orange in light of it being Halloween and all, oh well, next time!

Ingredients:
1 box brownies
2 boxes instant jello chocolate pudding
1 Large tub of whip cream
1 1/2 bags of Heath English Toffee Bits (found at Savemart)

Make the brownies, set aside. Make the Jello, set aside. Then layer...Brownie, Pudding, Whip Cream, and Toffee bits. End with Whip Cream and Toffee Bits...Voila! Death by chocolate:)

Two great deals this weekend!

Check out Von's Clearance tables in the back of the store. They had a 78 load laundry detergent for 50% off of it's regular price $15.49. It rang up to $7.74. I had a $2.00 OYN purchase coupon and ended up paying $6.74 for each one (I bought two). WOW! Even the lady at the cashier was impressed and checked to see if there were any more left!! Woo-Hoo!!!!
Remember when I told you guys to go and buy the Salame from Savemart when it was only $1.99?? Well, you all did so when I went they were all out...but I did get a rain check and redeemed it today. I did hold up the Express Line, but I battled through the inexperienced cahsier lady and the very kind Manager Jason and ended up paying...wait for it, wait for it...$2.97 for 3 packages!!!! My total bill before the coupon and the OYN purchase coupon from Savemart was $13.49...WOW!!!! I h ad a 78% savings...love these days!!! Don't ever forget to get a rain check on a good sale!!!

Grocery Coupon match-up Deals at Rite Aid

So yesterday I went to Rite-Aid and my bill was 64.00, but I paid 22.00.  I then got 6.69 back in rewards to use at my next trip at Rite Aid.  Many of you asked how do I get started to save like this at Rite Aid.  The first thing you want to do is sign-up for a rewards card at Rite Aid. You can do that in the store or online I believe.  Then you can enjoy the rewards plus when advertised.  So here was my shopping deal yesterday.

Rite Aid had 5 boxes of selected Kellogs Cereal for 10.00 plus a rewards plus for 2.00.  So basically it's 5 boxes for 8.00. I purchased 10 boxes (my sister wanted some) and had a 5.00 off 25.00 coupon, which is found on their website.  Along with their huggie Diaper sale-which was 7.99 on sale, plus a 3.00 off coupon, plus 2.00 back in rewwards.  I basically paid 2.99 for a package of Huggies Diapers.  I also added in my cart a Crest toothpaste which was 2.69.  I  had a .75 off coupon which lowered it to 1.94.  But here is the kicker, Rite Aid was giving you back 2.69 in rewards.  So it was a money maker.  You want those deals!

So as you can see, without my Rewards Card and some coupons, I would of paid 64.00 because the cereal boxes were listed as 4.19 each!  Later I will post my Vons shopping trip from yesterday...remember it's all about using your coupons with what they have on sale...
